An independent parrot flies out into the world to meet people but no one notices him until he spots a fire and saves the day. The collection includes thirty-five photocopied studies, sixty-two photostat studies, one silverprint, twenty-three photostats of pasteups and separations, thirty-four pencil studies, five ink illustrations, thirty-two ink and tempera illustrations (some with separations).

Jack Kent wrote and illustrated about 40 children's books during his career and illustrated nearly 20 by other authors. He began his career as a free-lance commercial artist, created a comic strip "King Aroo" which was syndicated from 1950 to 1965.
